Blog Guelph: Robin

Big mouth but no noise yet, originally uploaded by Memotions.

Spring is a time of bountiful beauty and wonder.

I spent much of my weekend absorbing the glory and admiring Mom Nature's latest sexy show, both the visual and the soundtrack. When I unplug, get quiet and give it the time of day, the natural world is so wonderfully entertaining.

On that note, I'm quite happy to start our week off with 12 seasonal images by 11 talented Guelph Photographers - starting with Memotions stunner - 'Junior Robin waiting for breakfast'.

Best viewed while sipping a steamy cup of garden fresh mint tea with a generous drizzle of spring blossom honey from Ignatius Farm Apiary.

Blog Guelph: Frozen in February

icicles 087, originally uploaded by Memotions.

Merry Monday.

For those of you viewing Blog Guelph from afar, it's friggin freezing here today - sunny - but with the wind chill it's got the vibe of minus 25C.

Minus 25C.

As my crusty father used to proclaim, "It's cold enough to freeze the nuts off a brass monkey".

In honour of said monkey and his loss plus all the frozen sods in town, I'm happy to present a series of 5 pics of one subject, by one photographer - Memotions.

For those of you living in icicle free zones, today's posts are best viewed while sitting in an ice bath.

Blog Guelph: Move it or lose it

Jumping squirrel, originally uploaded by Memotions.

"Cliff Arnall began calculating the happiest and gloomiest days of the year back in 2005 while working as a professor at Cardiff University in Wales.

At the behest of the British travel industry, Arnall devised a "Blue Monday" formula that calculates factors such as weather, debt, time passed since Christmas, failed New Year's resolutions, low motivation and the need to take action."

Blog Guelph: Gull Seeking Sea

I've never quite understood the Sea Gull and how they came to live in the City of Guelph. Perhaps there's some false advertising going on in the bird world.

Blog Guelph: Sweet

Just a spoonful of sugar, originally uploaded by Memotions.

Election results are still being reported as unofficial on the Guelph city website. I suspect Ward One can expect a recount with only one vote separating second place Kathleen Farrelly from third place incumbent Laura Baily. Still, after much 'pinch me am I dreaming' frenzy at the very well attended River Run Centre last night, the results of the 2006 municipal election can be summed up in one word for a great many Guelphites.

Sweet.
