Blog Guelph: Flies in Your Face

this is a cow, originally uploaded by downtownlynn.

Welcome to Wednesday.

Today's series of posts give way to some well photographed animals. Since much of Guelph's history is based in agriculture - what with G-town being the home to The Ontario Veterinary College and all - AND because OVC just happens to be the oldest veterinary college in Canada and the United States, it seemed fitting and fair to let the critters have their day in the blogospotlight.

OVC was originally located in Toronto in 1862, moved to Guelph in 1922 and became a founding college of the University of Guelph in 1964. To review Key Dates in the History of the Ontario Veterinary College, click on the link.

To see other cows, cats and dogs previously posted on Blog Guelph, click on the hyper-linked word.

Moo to you.

Blog Guelph: Cow Love

The great lick, originally uploaded by timylee.

Greeting Guelphites and Blog Guelph lovers - seems love is in the air and and the heifers at the University of Moo are puckering up. Please kiss a cow today.

Today's foto fivesome are grouped together randomly - in a slice of life kinda way. I've sprinkled some news throughout the posts too - along with a You Tube video - cause I'm in a sprinkling kinda mood.

Must be the pending full moon - and the light yet glorious overnight rain.

Happy day. And for friends and family of Canadian artist Ken Danby, a sad day indeed.

Blog Guelph: Don't Have A Cow

woodlawn cow, originally uploaded by cool-baby.

One of the beautiful things about technology that continues to amaze me is just how fragile it can be.

Take Blog Guelph for instance. Sure Downtown Lynn and I dutifully blog a plethora of digital images five days a week for your viewing pleasure. And gratefully, you in turn flock to our url to see said photos.

It all happens so smoothly that we begin to believe that just like the rising and setting of the sun, Blog Guelph will always be waiting for our pleasure.

And then - something happens with the - technology - and wham bam sorry man, click and refresh all you want - you ain't gonna get anywhere cause anywhere has been swallowed!

Used to be that I would 'have a cow' when cyber shit hit my fan. Now - well, I go outside and look for the sun.

Please enjoy today's series brought to you by a talented team of Guelph photographers. Click the pics.

A special thanks to Barking Dog Studios for sifting through the cyber poop and restoring Blog Guelph.

Blog Guelph: Have a Real Cow

Pure evil., originally uploaded by Sandra Regina.

Today I'm pleased to feature a six post series of odd shots.

Yesterday I inadvertently misidentified a kissing horse as a kissing cow. As both a farm girl and a University of Guelph Alumni (sure I was an Artsy but still) I'm hoping that this photo, also by Sandra Regina, will set the record straight. I do know the difference.

This is a cow – a glaring, evil looking cow.

Blog Guelph: Cow #17

So you're at the Art Centre doing the The Shakespeare Made In Canada Festival's Opening Reception thingy - why not round out your Guelph experience by heading across the street and say "hay" to some Guelph cows.

According to photographer Johnny Ballgame, Cow # 17, who lives at the University of Guelph was all over the Barn Yard Paparazzi. Notice how she's showing off her Marilyn Monroe beauty mark to the camera - such a hussy hefier.

Blog Guelph: Cows Are Just Great

Cows Are Just Great, originally uploaded by TheGiantVermin.

Blog Guelph is pleased to share this kind post from Franco.

He writes, "I woke up this morning, around 7 and started surfing the net. I decided to look Guelph up on Wikipedia and found this site: www.blogguelph.com. I have also added a link on the right and if you're a Guelph graduate, check it out. There are some very nice photos of a place we called home for four years. I miss it. I miss its innocence, beauty and character."

Thanks for the cow TGV.

Blog Guelph: Wading Cow

Wading Cow, originally uploaded by corbeau_du_nord.

Thanks to the prominence of the University of Guelph and its focus on agricultural studies, Guelph is sometimes referred to as Cow town.

Here we have a Guelph area cow skinny-dipping in a stream. As the photographer corbeau du nord points out in their notes on this photos Flickr homepage, cows wading in streams may seem quaint but in fact are nasty polluting machines. When they've 'gotta go, go they do'. Upstream folks do not suffer the consequence. But the downstream crowds get an unfortunate reduction in water quality.

I trust you get the picture.

Click on the pic to visit this photographers Flickr photo stream.
