Friday's Gem of the Day is by Ben Benvie Photography. Ben happened to catch this shot when he looked over his shoulder while photographing the lunar eclipse in Eramosa River Park .
Looking back can bear fruit.

Since the Church of Our Lady is having a face lift, I've noticed that the other churches in Guelph are getting more photographic action.

Blog Guelph: The Necessary Steps
What to do, what to do...???
My pal Mark the toxicologist offered this 3 step suggestion!
1. Send a comment to the Provincial Government--It is easy to cut and paste our sample comment using a link from the www website or drop by our booth at the Farmer's Market and fill out a postcard (it takes 2 minutes to decide the fate of our water for the next 5 years). Anyone living in Ontario can comment. This includes students under 18!
2. Join the www via the website for $25 and receive a FREE Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottle. Note from Sue: These stainless bottles are brilliant - I own two.
3. Donate (money or time). Mail in a cheque to: Wellington Water Watchers P.O. Box 26036 Guelph, ON N1E 6V8 or e-mail info@wellingtonwaterwatchers.ca

Blog Guelph: Steeple Peeper
Over the last year, I've posted over 900 photos on Blog Guelph. Because of this extraordinary experience, I see Guelph very differently than I have before. Edeva's example of St. George's Church steeple tucked behind the Heffernan Foot Bridge illustrates my new perspective perfectly.
The details of our city are wondrous to behold.

No photo collection of Guelph building tops could be considered complete without including the Church of Our Lady.
Shall we offer thanks to the people from days gone by that saw fit to build this spectacular structure - and hope that today's leaders further enhance this nationally significant site.

Blog Guelph: Christmas Door
St. James The Apostle Church on Glasgow Street painted their door red sometime in the last week. When this church opened in 1892, it was the last in a series of centrally located, major churches to be built with locally quarried limestone.

Blog Guelph: Holy Protection Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church
Often when we think of Guelph landmarks, it is the Church of Our Lady that gets all the attention. While the lady of the hill is very compelling, so too are a number of other outstanding buildings in our cityscape.
This church lives on York Road at the end of Neeve Street.
