Blog Guelph: Coffee Coffee Coffee
We're a very lucky city to have our own gourmet, fair trade, organic, coffee roasting joint that also happens to be a worker coop.
Locally owned Planet Bean now offers two locations for your bean buying pleasure - on the east side of town at 259 Grange Street #2 and right downtown at 51 Macdonell Street.
They've got some crazy Ethiopian coffee that will kick your caffeine lovin' butt.

Blog Guelph: Tarts of Butter
I love butter tarts.
Imagine my glee when a new location for terrific butter tarts opened in downtown Guelph.
If you love butter tarts, simply go to Quebec Street and visit the Blue Ribbon Deli.
Purchase tart(s). Eat. Die and go to heaven.
But first, tell them Blog Guelph sent you.

Blog Guelph - Venus Smiled...again
No poetry, song lyrics or other cryptography from your guest blogger today folks. Let's just call the next 6 posts 'facetime'.
Nothing cryptic about that.
Please click on elledee's picture of Venus here to read all about the details of the grand re-opening of ...and Venus Smiled. Nice to see one of the Douglas Street Fire survivors rise again.
And as always, click on any pic to see each photographers photostream.

Blog Guelph: GlobalTox 15th Anniversary
I'm very pleased to help GlobalTox share the news of their 15th Anniversary - partly because Mark and Ron are friends of mine and they've created a terrific, international business that has stood the test of time. But also because they model what to me is good community spirit within Guelph and Wellington County. For starters, GlobalTox is a founding partner to the Waterloo-Wellington Children's Groundwater Festival - which since its inception in 1994, has hosted over 50,000 students in grades 2 - 6. This week long festival which aims to increase and support greater awareness of water at a grassroots level with interactive activities, demonstrations and exhibits, has become even more important as community water issues now take front page news.
Then there's the GlobalTox Award for Excellence - available to students registered at the University of Guelph. Among other Guelph based charities and organizations that benefit from GlobalTox help are Guelph Food Bank, Guelph Minor Baseball, Guelph Marlins Aquatic Club and Michael House plus a selection of national and international organizations.
Happy Anniversary GlobalTox! They claim crystal is the ideal gift for the 15th but in this world of the wild web, I think blogging is even better.

I'm short on time today dear readers so a sweet three posts is all you get.
Should you be looking for a good old fashioned experience this weekend, our independently owned Mustang Drive-In , located east of Guelph just off highway 7 could be what you're looking for. At the very least, visit their website to see the baseball playing hot dog.

Blog Guelph: Breakfast at the Cornerstone
Finally, Mr. Denton enjoyed a Cornerstone Cafe breakfast specialty: Fruit Salad with Granola and Yogurt.
Okay, now that we've got breakfast cleared, let me share this news - also from Mr. Denton.
Hello musical friends,
An invitation and a reminder that this Sunday, April 15, 9 PM to 11:30ish, is the next Campfire Session at the Cornerstone Cafe. Hosted by Mark Rodford and myself, we set out a big round tray of tea candles (our "campfire") and then sit around the fire and swap songs. Each session this winter has been a little different, a few new faces each time, a few regulars, all have been warm, hardy, and fun-filled affairs. This will be our final campfire for the season, likely to resume in the Autumn.
We'd love to have you join us this Sunday night! Bring along some friends.
Thanks,
Greg Denton.

Blog Guelph: Trashy Talk
Here's some trashy news.
Guelph's Erik van Miltenburg got an inspired write-up by Leah McLaren in the Saturday's Style Section of the Globe and Mail. The 'Must Buy' featured Erik's invention: Trashy.
Seems Trashy can make our three stream garbage collection tidy and sexy - the latter feature being sorely missing from the current plastic bag separation mix.
No sooner had I read the piece than my in-box chimed with news from Barking Dog Studio's about Erik's very beautifully created website for Trashy. It was like the Guelph Garbage Goddess was speaking directly to me. I felt one with my three streams.
Visit Trashy here.

Blog Guelph: Knights Mill
Knights Mill is located off Edinburgh Road, just south of Paisley. To some, it might look like a series of derelict buildings. Others will see texture, tone, history and design.
That's the beauty of perspectives – the challenge, you need to look and listen to see the variety. Please enjoy today’s series.

Blog Guelph: The Dip
And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine

Blog Guelph: Guelph Breast Gift Guide
Given Guelph is the birth place of topfree Ontario - thanks to Gwen Jacob's famous July 19th, 1991 shirt-less walk down Gordon Street - it is no wonder that Guelph is the publishing base of the Breast of Canada calendar.
If you are keen to offer your breast friend an educational and beautiful gift this year, consider popping into Macondo Books, the Bookshelf, On the Verge or Community Roots Collective to pick up a copy. Or - should you be reading this post in say - New Zealand - and you'd like to get one on the next flight out go to www.breastofcanada.com and go to the order page.
Guaranteed to inspire conversation - Christmas dinner just got more engaging.
