Blog Guelph: Through a lens, briefly
It's Thursday folks, and clearly my "uploading slowly all afternoon" was kiboshed yesterday.
Forcefields beyond my control really.
So, a big apology for the tease of things to come that didn't.
Ms. Blogger, Sir Internet and little ol' me will endeavour to remedy this for you today.
Stupendous shots from woodsy women, scary shots to get you in the Halloween mood and others will be forthcoming shortly.
I promise.

Blog Guelph: Cedar
Welcome to Wednesday's substitute blog.
Don't be mean to me now.
Our superstylin' Sue had to remove herself from the blogosphere today so I'm stepping in...
Thought I'd carry on with my theme of yesterday to round out Women's History Month and post a pile of woodsy shots from our stellar Guelph women photographers.
Stay tuned as I slowly upload one here and there over the afternoon...

Blog Guelph: The world through the eye of a horse
Made in Guelph
Given that we're winding down Women's History Month, I thought it was important to feature a female photographer for today's version of Made in Guelph.
Crevicehead , AKA Erin, claims to have just picked up her camera recently.
Just one or two clicks on her photostream and you can hardly believe this is true...
She possesses the keen, sensitive eye of a pro - to which these 6 attest.
Thanks Erin!

Blog Guelph: Sumac
Good Monday ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the last week of weather wild October.
Today's half dozen shots pay tribute to the power and detail of a well composed close-up. I'm not so good at technical photographic speak, but I do know what I like in an image. Close-ups usually get the nod.
The Guelph Photographic Club is meeting Tuesday, October 28th, 2008; at 7:00 pm at The Woolwich Arms. Half of the back room will be reserved for the gathering. This club is dedicated to helping beginners and intermediate photographers improve their skills through regular get-togethers, general discussion and field trips.
Oh - and beer drinking too.
All are welcome.

Blog Guelph: What's on your fridge?
Greetings Friends of Friday.
Today's single pic packs a creative punch for you to wrestle with if you so choose. Clever Mr. VW Busman has posted the following "What's on Your Fridge PHOTO CHALLENGE" for you to play with - along with this example of his rather busy fridge door.
How To Play
1. Go to your kitchen and take a picture of your fridge. Don't try to move stuff around or prep the photo, just shoot.
2. Make sure some of the stuff in readable and it can be identified as a fridge. ie. logo, handle, etc.
3. Post that picture with NO editing.
4. Post these instructions with your picture.
Then, add it to the group:
www.flickr.com/groups/mymessyfridge. And tag it with "mymessyfridge"
Have fun - be fun - enjoy your weekend.

Blog Guelph: Golden Years
A Golden Thursday to you all.
There's much to do on this upcoming gorgeous weekend - and please note the positivity boldly staring down November....
You could go see a Golden Oldie in the form of a play at The Guelph Little Theatre entitled,
Myself?
I think I might try to eke out a moment of silence ( golden, right?) immediately after I listen to this Bowie classic, Golden Years.

Blog Guelph: The Big Blow
That night was the turning-point in the season. We had gone to bed in summer, and we awoke in autumn; for summer passes into autumn in some imaginable point of time, like the turning of a leaf.

Blog Guelph: Gathering Leaves
Gathering Leaves
by Robert Frost
Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Blog Guelph: Autumn Maples
AUTUMN MAPLES
By Archibald Lampman (1861-1899)
The thoughts of all the maples who shall name,
When the sad landscape turns to cold and gray?
Yet some for very ruth and sheer dismay,
Hearing the northwind pipe the winter's name,
Have fired the hills with beaconing clouds of flame;
And some with softer woe that day by day,
So sweet and brief, should go the westward way,
Have yearned upon the sunset with such shame
That all their cheeks have turned to tremulous
rose;
Others for wrath have turned to rusty red,
And some that knew not either grief or dread,
Ere the old year should find its iron close,
Have gathered down the sun's last smiles acold,
Deep, deep, into their luminous hearts of gold.

Blog Guelph: Hoodride Bug
Made in Guelph
a Blog Guelph invention
A frigid Tuesday all.
I guess that's that then, huh?
The leaves are being blown away by the malevolent November winds.
I think I just saw snow.
No more bare feet, no more G and T's on any patio anytime soon.
Sigh.
To warm you up, however, we delve into the wondrous world of vw-busman, AKA Chris Iwanowski.
You really should click on his photonom above to read a pinch about who the man really is and to be led further astray by his blog, Busman Chronicles, as well as his web2 roll.
(Is that some kind of sushi?)
Man, this guy is wired!
Avoiding the tech talk myself, I'll tell you this much:
Chris likes anything VW.
He has 2 great kids and an awesome partner -who are but 4 dogs in a creative stew of a business called Barking Dog Studios.
He's recently come out on top of a treacherous couple of years.
He'll photograph anything and everything. And well.
He's a positron, a bit of a nerd (but in a good way, in the way other nerds look up to...), an intelligent and passionate community dude.
But most of all, I like Chris because we share a love of all things pie.
Tis true.
Clickety click on this pile of nine that barely scrapes the surface.
