Did you know that yesterday was not just Father's Day, but also World Elder Abuse Awareness Day? Yet another important topic to be aware of... and perhaps even to take action in regards to.
CFRU had a special broadcast at 3pm, and several important resources for senior's and those caring for them were shared... as Doug (the usual host of Seems Like Old Times on CFRU) interviewed the President, Judith Carson, of the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association. I thought I'd take a minute today to share some of them again:
> GWSA Support Services: Phone: (519) 837-5696
email: [email protected]
> The Guelph Police Department has a constable that is involved in watching out for elder abuse.
> The Seniors Safety Line – The hotline is a toll-free, confidential resource for seniors who are worried they are suffering from abuse or pressure from another 1-866-299-1011.
> The CCAC
It was an important show. I like the point that was made during the broadcast that it is wonderful and important to include older people in the events you are attending! I thought you might want to know...
