Tricia Brubacher is as sweet at the Maple Syrup at the Festival that just passed in nearby Elmira, and where she performed this year, and I've decided that's close enough to Guelph to call her a local artist for this Music Monday!
Born and raised in Elmira, this passionate vocalist and now songwriter has been singing since childhood. She performs a blend of folk, rock and blues has an ear for harmony and was once best known for her talent to collaborate with many musical artists in the region.
She's recently released an EP called Crimson, recorded with James Gordon, that you want to hear. She has a strong yet tender, sweet but clear voice and accompanies herself on her songs with both guitar and ukulele. She is also gifted with covers, and you can hear some of those on her myspace page, or enjoy a hint of her live performance in a few youtube videos, like this one. Don't you wish you were part of the audience applause?
Always smiling, she still also performs as member of the trio Callisto, the Toronto based 'essentia' vocal ensemble led by Rosemary Phelan and the Guelph based Ondine Chorus led by Shannon Kingsbury and Sue Smith. If you haven't seen her yet, may I suggest you consider attending these upcoming events:
