Blog Guelph: The Bookshelf

Bookshelf, originally uploaded by Bruce Shapka.

Happy Fourth Friday, Guelph.

I'd like to give a big slap on the back to The Bookshelf today, in their 40th year of existence.

The Bookshelf has shifted and grown, largely with changes in the publishing industry over the years, and yet instead of being daunted by big box bookstores and economic downturns, it rallies on strongly.

A family owned independent, The Bookshelf has marched to its own drummer and thrived by continually redefining the space, and shaping itself as a true hub of Guelph arts & culture downtown.

Happy Anniversary year to the "bookstore that shows movies. A cinema that serves dinner. A resto-bar that launches books"
