Is it just me getting all curmudgeonly, or is the fun of St. Paddy's Day creeping into the annoying territory of the month-long Hallowe'en? No, it's not just the dressing up that I'm grousing about - that's 'ok' - but it now appears to be celebrated days before and even after the actual date.
Don't get me wrong, I love Guinness more than most, love a man with a decidedly Irish name, and am pleased to dance and make merry whatever the reason, but come on! My whinging self thinks that it detracts from the true fun to be had on a standout day. Surely an event shines a bit brighter by its singularity, and not when diffused by a week's worth of green plastic hats, barfing frosh and nary a leprechaun in sight?
Sigh. Nevermind me. I suppose since it falls on a Sunday and all...
Carry on with your fun then.
I'll probably be out there too.
