Blog Guelph: Love On

run lil red run by jen linfield photography

I have the auspicious opportunity to blog on Valentine's Day today.

And so, today, I was thinking about what love means.

Is it coming home to the comfort of a friend?
Is it a marauding passion in the night?
The memory of arms that once held you?
A dream buried?
A hope playing out?
Does it stay?
Is it real?
Is it just an emotion? A thought.
A reflection of ourselves. A smoke.

What does it mean to love someone.

How long will you be on that road?
How far will you go?
How much will you handle?
How deeply will you offer?

How will you survive?

It's difficult to know anything when it comes to matters of the heart. It's rugged and wild country and you can be out on the trail a long time, far into the mystical or far into the reality. Some people love easily, some hide from it. Some find it, some will never let it find them. And it changes. Love changes. It runs like the river, disappears like the dawn, goes ragged like a cloth, turns wild like a wolf. It's unpredictable and free. Unlike us.

We hang on. We push on. We hope on. We forge on.

And hopefully, we always find ways to love on.
