Happy Halloween! I'm so excited to be posting on my favourite of all holidays.
With it's dark settings and flickering lights Halloween seems to be a tricky holiday to photograph. So I hope you enjoy these treats from Halloween past and present.

Blog Guelph: Secret Places
When I was wee - in whatever City in the world that I found myself in - I always managed to discover a secret place. There is something truly delicious about hiding away, about finding refuge, and stamping a place our very own.
Guelph's Festival of Moving Media (FOMM) gets a local kick at the mysterious can this Thursday night with Ed Video's screening of Hidden Histories: Secret Places. A commissioning project to create short documentaries about secret places in the 1Mile2 of Guelph. Here we have community collaboration at it's best: Ed Video, FOMM and Musagetes Foundation enabled these 9 video stories to be told.
Next week here at Blog Guelph, some of us will expand on the many stellar FOMM offerings. A lesser known FAB 5 Festival , FOMM .... "also serves as a catalyst towards increasing community understanding of the world and its diversity". Do check it out, November 3-6.
In the meantime, button up tight and come out between 7 and 10 pm tonight to see what hidden gems can be unearthed. It's Fourth Friday Downtown today! On the complete opposite spectrum of shushing and quietude, I will be toting a megaphone and iPhone in hopes that complete strangers will say something nice that I can spin into a song. A Collaborative Soundscape of sorts.
Find me if you can, I'll be the loud one.
But for right now I'm off to my own Downtown Hideout, one that I won't give it up lest my secrets are exposed.
Yours undercover until dark,
DowntownLynn

Blog Guelph: Let There Be Light
I know Guelph's very own Festival of Moving Media starts November 3 but I also know Lynn the Friday Fantastic will give you more on this.
And just a reminder that Macdonald Stewart Art Centre's Beyond the Frame Art Auction approaches as well: November 12th. The works are stunning and can be previewed on MSAC's Facebook Page. It is always an absolutely awesome party and a great way to network.
So, while the day's sun grows brief, may our spirits grow creative. And let there be light.

Blog Guelph: muybridge vs joplin
muybridge vs joplin a video by cool-baby on Flickr.
Don't let the rain dampen your spirits today. Bring out your brolly and give it a jaunty spin. Take a moment to notice how the colour of the leaves really shine on a day like today. Always look on the bright side of life (I may start to whistle a familiar tune).
All the images today have been brought to you by people who are having a swell time. Fancy that! Go on, join in, just jump! You know you want to.
Cheers!

Blog Guelph: Halloween Fun
Happy Tuesday Blog Guelph!
Halloween is just around the corner, so I thought I would share some fantastic pictures from the Twilight Zoo taking place all this week in Elora.
If this isn't quite for you, maybe a little bit a FRIGHT is. The Haunted House Of Horrors is open every evening this week at Stone Road Mall.
If this still isn't scary enough for you, maybe you could check out one of these THESE sites in Guelph, rumoured to be haunted.
Whatever you choose to do, be safe and have fun!

Blog Guelph: Rainy Day Monday
Happy Monday everyone. It's a wellie and umbrella kind of day out there.
I've been motivated to start my annual "apple cider vinegar and local raw honey daily prevention program" - which I credit for keeping me cold and flu free for the last 6 years running.
First thing every morning, I sip my way through a warm mug of this healthy concoction. Known for it's anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties not to mention a healthy load of vitamins and minerals. It can be an acquired taste - but well worth the effort in my books.
Be well and enjoy today's photo set.

Blog Guelph: Taking it to the Street
I do tend to murmur on about Downtown Guelph, 'tis true.
Hard not to when the streets are steadily buzzing with activity, when there is ever-present motion, when seemingly no one goes to bed.
Even Carlos yelling - in Italian, no less - at passersby may jar some, but I do love how it animates outside the box of conformity. There's music to be found on on the street in it's infinite configurations.
I won't punish you today with links to a dizzying array of events downtown.
Just one for now.
Visit Downtown Guelph here and there to discover what gives.

Blog Guelph: The Juggler
Good Windy Morning!
Looks like today will be one of those days when we will all have to practice our juggling skills. The wind may interrupt any tight rope walking ambitions I may have had today. Never mind, I will have my hands full holding my son's hand and balancing an umbrella on the way to school. I may resemble Mary Poppins or see Dorothy on the way.
How about I write all you loyal readers a note for your boss that you have my permission to stay at home in your jim-jams. You need visual stimulation from the rat race and local photographer Karen Brodie is your woman to get you ooing and awing today! Seriously, grab a cuppa, sit down and let your eyes wander through her stream on Flickr. You may need a passport as this gal is global! Click on the photos here and enjoy your journey.
Cheers!
