Blog Guelph: Word

"spare time" graffiti, originally uploaded by kim/ber.

"Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."
-Rudyard Kipling-

Words hold such power and sway.
Some like to use them as weapons, others as a gift of flowers.
Some words are misconstrued, misheard, misread, misappropriated.
Taken for granted and abused.
Overused, undervalued.
Some like to prettify their words to impress, many are good at this but not all are successful.
Some - like myself - enjoy mashing words together.
Making them my own.

But some are direct and thus clear.
To the point.
I have a poet friend who has the ability to place two words in perfect precision side by side, each word elevating the others meaning.
Devastatingly beautiful.

Look at this short video to see how the power of words can, "radically change your message and your effect upon the world".

Head to and fro, back and Fourth downtown tonight. See if you can spot the words. Listen to others words. Create your own.

Choose your words carefully.
Or not.
But say what you mean.
And mean what you say.
