Blog Guelph: Possessing the Secret of Joy

I'm back to regularly contributing to Blog Guelph after a many year hiatus, and thankful to be. See how I'm shamelessly starting us off today with one of my own! All for the sake of a theme, of course.

And since a word is worth a thousand pictures, I'll be blogging from a Downtown POV. Not that all the shots will be of Downtown Guelph per se, just that at some point weekly you'll see me wax on about the place I live in, work in, eat in, play in, dance and walk in. And then some.

A bit about me: Thanksgiving is far and away my favourite celebration because religion takes a back seat for a change while we pause to salute the change of season, and while we gather to give thanks for the bounty in our lives. Well that and food.

So did you know that Dig-In Downtown is making a triumphant return October 14 through 28? Indeed it is. We're celebrating a brand new Dining Guide which features the astounding number of eateries found in a mere 4 square blocks. Deelish specials, Prix Fixe meals and more will be coming your way, so get your drool on...

I've compiled the following pics under the heading, Possessing the Secret of Joy with a nod to Alice Walker. I am overjoyed with the fact that three incredible world-changing women just won the Nobel Prize. Less joyous with the lowest vote turnout ever, yet confident that we can rethink how to engage voters. Perhaps we could package the vote up like a well-designed, intuitive and desired Apple product? Allow 16 year-olds to vote? Quit preaching to the converted? Ah, but I digress.

Here's to family near and far, to those here and those departed. Here's to Joy.

Thanks be.
