Good Glorious Morning to You!

It is going to be a stunner of a day. August in October. The morning light has that yummy quality that makes photographers drool with delight.

Today I thought I would focus on the Begging Bear that stands guard out front of the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre. It was the victim of some malicious drunken activities a few months back and was damaged. Our dear bear was sent off to Artcast in Georgetown to be repaired for what seemed a long time. A bare patch (bear with me) was left in the eyes of many Guelphites who often looked to see what the fashion of the day would be according to the Begging Bear.

Many years ago when most people still used film, a local camera store sponsored a contest for most outrageous photo of the dressed up Begging Bear. I participated in that with a dear friend. We had to wait our turn as it was such a popular thing to do. Dressing the Bear is just one of those Guelph things to do. I promise to find my negatives and share some of those antics.

As I drove to the darkroom on campus last night, I was grateful to see the Bear's return. I will admit to being somewhat disappointed that it wasn't wearing a stitch, not even a party hat. Hint, hint people!

All hail the Begging Bear!

Cheers!
