Good Morning Guelph!
Tomorrow is a holiday and I am going to sleep in! If I can't sleep in, then I'm having a nap in the afternoon!
Check out the assortment of photos, and I'll be back with a link or two this afternoon!

Blog Guelph: Chocolate Frozen Yogurt & Coffee
Well, too busy for Made in Guelph today, and I have 60 kms on the road tonight! I was looking through these photos and I realized a number of them really made me think of ice cream, which made me want ice cream, so perhaps Francesca's photo will fill that craving! Hope you have all enjoyed your days in the sun without the heat!

Blog Guelph: Green
You can't escape the green here in Guelph, and today's post is filled with the colour. The rain yesterday, and last night, and probably all day today, will keep green in our midst for some time.
I hope you enjoy these photos. I didn't get past the first page of the Guelph flickr group. For one thing there is a lot of green, which is what I was looking for, but darn there is a lot of captured beauty in the flickr groups.
Oh, and I need to get some of those garlic scapes, (Chris' photo) to make this pesto!
Have a great day!

Blog Guelph: Planes!
Look! Look! It's an earthquake. No it's a tornado. No - it's summer in Ontario and this is our 'sweet as strawberry pie' Gem of the Day by our super fotogher Chris.
Yes it has been an exciting weather week in G-town. Hopefully the coming of the full moon on Saturday night will settle Mother Earth's nerves for a while.
If you're looking for U-Pick berries, Fergus Gardens is getting rave reviews. It is 2 km north of Fergus on 6, if you're interested.
It's summer. Be easy.

Blog Guelph: Heron at Riverside
There is nothing like a soy milk latte in the afternoon. I don't often have one this late in the day, but today I felt was a two kind of day.
I want to share this link with you, from Keith Loutit who is a tilt shift, time lapse photographer. I even love the music, by Vital, he has playing during his personal section of his site. Enjoy Vital here!
Have a great day!

Blog Guelph: Fresh Fig
Francesca posts delicious food shots. When I saw this first fig shot, I thought of the lone fig I have on my tree out back. The squirrels have managed to tear the rest off, and take a few bites if any on some of the figs, and then leave it for me to see. I've heard the reason squirrels bite into fruit, like tomatoes is because they are thirsty. They don't like the taste of tomatoes but when desperate they'll chomp on them for moisture. So, I leave a bowl of water out all summer. There's never a stolen tomato.
The fig tree will just have to be netted for the next crop.
Here's another recipe I made yesterday. It's the second in a row from this blog, that I've tried. The sandwich she writes about just might be the third.
Reading the rhubarb post got me thinking of my own rhubarb story. My Nanny, is what we called my Gran, had a huge patch at the back of her house by the garage, and we would leave with a stalk after every summer visit. Sitting in the back seat of the car loving the sour taste, and savouring every bite, with my legs burning from the vinyl of the seats is the short part of my rhubarb story.
Have a great day everyone!

Blog Guelph: On Books
I am beyond thrilled today to feature the work of Firda Beka whose work stays with you long after you have viewed it. I have long admired so much of Firda's work. Her photographs are not about the camera, or the film, or the developing, but about an amazing, sensitive, and personally relevant response to the world around her. I feel she thinks not of her viewers when she shoots, processes, and posts, but only to the authentic representation of her recorded experience. It is not her technical fluidity that engages me with her work, but how she effortlessly uses her skills and tools to craft some beautifully emotive images. Her use of natural lighting to convey mood is masterful, folding the feel of late afternoon sun into emotions her images inspire and memories they evoke. There is a respect and sense of integrity that inheres her work, perhaps owing to the organic nature of shooting in her own way for her own reasons. Firda's work inspires you to know, in your own way, about your own things. If you have yet to follow Firda's work, I would suggest you do it soon, and a rainy and gray day is perfect for the pondering it will begin.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day,
Paula

Blog Guelph: Passing Rain
I woke up this morning, thinking and saying out loud, why can't it be Saturday. More sleep, I need more sleep, please!
Anyway, up I am, and I'm going to tell you about a dessert I made this weekend.
There are strawberries and ginger and icecream, and an alcohol called pimms. If you don't want to use pimms, I think a little orange juice and some grated peel would work. This is a dessert that is quick to put together and is a big wow in the taste department.
I made my own ginger syrup, and only because I couldn't find any in the grocery store. I did find candied ginger, which I normally have on hand for tossing in banana bread.
The first time I tried Pimms was downtown at Atmosphere in a drink with lemonade and cucumbers, on a scorching day.
Have a great day everyone! It looks to be a beauty!

Blog Guelph: The Family
It's been awhile since I featured the 'bare naked' family that live in our fountain in St. George's Square - what controversy that stirred up in its day. Oh me, Oh my, what would the children think??!!! And now - well - does anyone even notice?
Please enjoy today's beautifully captured Gem by felixtrio.
This should be a snap! The 2nd Annual Guelph-Wellington "Summer in Swing" Photography Contest is now officially open!

Blog Guelph: Tiniest hopper I've ever seen...
I started this post in the morning and here it is the afternoon. I hope your day is going well and you're able to enjoy some sunshine. It's glorious out there, and a shame to be sitting here typing. I'm out of here again, and I'll catch you all next week.
