Made in Guelph - cd photography2009 / Connie D.
Blog Guelph is very pleased to be able to showcase the work of relatively-new-to-flickr Connie. Her work features two incredibly prominent elements - tone and selective focus - that she uses consistently, smoothly, and almost effortlessly to produce images that feel complete and settled. The tonal values she weaves into her images, through colour balance and temperature, function to provide an immediate felt connection to her images where I find I notice the longer I look at an image, the colder or warmer I begin to feel. Once anchored to the image, the other elements begin to emerge where the viewer can really appreciate her disciplined compositions. I particularly respect her commitment to the interactions between her subjects, which seems to manifest from the manner in which she overlaps elements within the frame. The often visually tight associations between her subjects communicate a sense of cohesion and support. Her use of selective focus seems to facilitate a connection between her subjects and present an appreciation for context. While there are not many images in her stream, those that are there deserve lengthy consideration. Viewing her stream was inspiring and insightful and I look forward to following her posts.
Here's to hoping the outdoor rinks survive this week,
