Blog Guelph: Guelph - Downtown

Guelph - Downtown, originally uploaded by Glassers.

I didn't grow up in Guelph, but my friends and I would pile into a chevette at least once a month and head downtown. At the time Guelph had the closest Le Chateau and it was in the basement of Quebec Street Mall, which was called the Eaton Centre. I remember the Records on Wheels, and buying more than a few picture records of the Smiths. There was a Second Fiddle, which probably started the Winners trend of discounted designer merchandise stores.
Ah downtown, you still have a lot going for you. You shift and change just like I do, and thankfully I don't have to drive 35 minutes to get to you.

This Saturday there is a grand opening for the new City Hall. Downtown is going to be teeming with people. Transit will be free from 5:40am - 6pm.
You'll also find photography on display from the Guelph Photographers Guild inside the City Hall.

Have a great day!
