Blog Guelph: Church of Our Lady - Mary

Our Lady of Peace, originally uploaded by vfilby.

So far, our elected officials have reported no action on the Loretto Task Force Recommendations. One theory suggests that our city mother's and father's are trying out the passive “demolished by neglect,” approach, a phrase coined by London, Ontario city heritage planner Christine Nelson.

According to Nelson, “The easiest thing to do that’s non-confrontational is to leave a building empty, turn off the lights and heat and pretty soon it’s going to be unsafe and too expensive to repair”.

Find out more about our current elected officials heritage record at the Guelph Civic League website.
